Music for labour and social justice

Left Coast News

Looking for entertainment prior to the Labour Day festivities? The Left Coast Labour Chorus has the answer.

Sidelined from regular activity by Covid-19, the choir has developed new ways to spread the message of peace, labour and the environment. Get ready for our series of Zoom shows, appearing under the rubric, Stand Up! Tune In!

On Tuesday, Sept. 1, the series kicks off with We Do the Work, featuring local singing artists, interviews on current labour issues, and the choir itself.

Catch local songwriters Lyndsay Wills and Sean Griffin singing about working in a bakery and struggling to save B.C.'s beleaguered salmon fishing industry.  We shine a spotlight on the efforts of laid-off hotel workers to have their jobs back when the pandemic subsides. We'll explore the magic of Spoken Word performance through the New York-based, Professor Louie.  And we wind up the half-hour show with the chorus's rendition of the Emma's Revolution tune, "Stand Together."

Please join us for our Zoom program, We Do the Work, on Tuesday, September 1 at 7 p.m. We guarantee that feeling of coming together, fine progressive music and warmth, whatever the weather.
